Hardy Bros. Large Oxblood Neroda 40-Clip Salmon Fly Box
A rare appearing unused vintage large-size Hardy Brothers “Neroda” salmon fly box, made in England and dating from approximately the 1930s–1960s. The rounded rectangular case measures approximately 6¼ inches long by 3¾ inches wide and is molded in very dark oxblood-colored Bakelite, with subtle reddish-brown mottling visible beneath the polished surface.
Both exterior panels bear the circular molded inscription “Hardy Bros. Makers England.” The box retains its full-length nickel-colored hinge, metal interior plates and original arrangement of 40 brass-colored Hardy spring clips—20 on each side. These clips were designed to hold salmon flies securely by their hooks while protecting the more delicate feather dressings.
The box c.1935 is empty and ready to display or accommodate a collection of classic salmon flies.
The Bakelite exterior displays tiny varnish, spotting and discoloration. The hinge and clip fittings appear sound, and the molded Hardy trademarks remain legible. Please see the photographs carefully for condition.
