Hardy Neroda Fly Box

Hardy Bros. Large Tortoiseshell Neroda Salmon Fly Box with Vintage Flies

A vintage large-size Hardy Brothers “Neroda” salmon/trout large fly box, made in England and dating from approximately the 1930s–1960s. The rounded rectangular case measures approximately 6¼ inches long by 3¾ inches wide and is molded in exceptionally attractive amber-and-dark-brown mottled Bakelite, commonly described by collectors as Hardy’s tortoiseshell finish. Both exterior panels bear the circular molded inscription “Hardy Bros. Makers England.” The box retains its full-length brass hinge, nickel-colored interior plates, and original wire-and-spring clip system designed to secure large salmon flies and their leaders without crushing the dressings. Included is an assortment of approximately 22 vintage salmon flies in a range of traditional patterns, sizes, and colors. The selection includes feather-wing and hair-wing examples, several with long leaders or gut-like extensions still attached. The flies are offered as found and vary in age and condition. The Bakelite case displays light surface scratches, rubbing, and normal handling marks but retains strong color, gloss, and striking tortoiseshell figuring. The interior metal plates and clips show age-related marks and discoloration. The hinge and fittings appear sound, and the molded Hardy trademarks remain visible. Please examine the photographs carefully for the styles, number, and condition of the included flies. A handsome and highly displayable large-format Hardy Neroda salmon fly box, distinguished by its vivid tortoiseshell pattern, original clip fittings, and collection of vintage salmon flies. A very difficult Neroda box to fine especially in this condition!
