Hardy Neroda Fly Box

Hardy Bros. Neroda Oxblood Bakelite Fly Box with 42 Vintage Trout Flies

A vintage Hardy Brothers “Neroda” Bakelite pocket (rare vest sized) fly box, made in England and dating from approximately the 1930s–1950s. The rounded rectangular case is mottled in a dark "oxblood" pattern. Both exterior panels bear the circular molded inscription “Hardy Bros. Makers England.” The box is fitted with a full-length brass hinge and two interior metal plates containing Hardy’s individual spring-style fly clips. It is offered with an assortment of vintage wet and dry trout flies in various traditional patterns. The Neroda was introduced by Hardy in 1934 as a durable, rust-resistant alternative to the company’s earlier japanned metal fly boxes. Numerous sizes and interior arrangements were produced, with the compact clip boxes intended to carry a substantial selection of flies in a convenient pocket-size case. The box displays normal age-related surface scratches (barely noiceable) rubbing, and handling marks. The molded Hardy markings remain distinct, the hinge appears sound, and the box presents well for its age. Please examine the photographs for the number, styles, and condition of the included flies. An attractive and increasingly collectible Hardy accessory retaining its original fittings, strong oxblood coloration, and a generous assortment of period fishing flies.
