VINTAGE TROUT HAND HELD FISHING NET!
A handsome vintage landing net featuring a gracefully shaped wood frame and integral handle, displaying the warm natural tones and attractive grain associated with traditional trout-fishing equipment. The elongated oval/teardrop hoop flows smoothly into the broad wooden handle, giving the net a particularly clean and well-balanced profile. The frame appears to be constructed of laminated steam-bent wood, with the contrasting layers visible around the perimeter of the hoop and continuing along the handle. This method of construction provided both strength and flexibility while retaining the lightweight character desired in a streamside landing net. It is fitted with black knotted mesh netting, which is attached around the wooden frame through a series of small metal loops or fasteners. The handle terminates in a metal ring, allowing the net to be clipped to a fishing vest, creel, or lanyard for convenient carrying. The net shows appropriate signs of age and use, including light surface wear and small marks to the wood, adding to its authentic vintage character. The wood retains an appealing warm patina, and the overall form remains quite attractive. A classic piece of traditional trout-fishing equipment, equally suitable for a collection of vintage angling accessories or for display alongside period bamboo fly rods, reels, and creels.
